A Message From OSEIA's Executive Director
OSEIA Members,
I am excited to take over as OSEIAs interim executive director and I look forward to engaging with you on upcoming initiatives, including 2018 legislation to fix the expiration of OR solar tax credits. Please know that we are as strong as ever and maintaining the momentum we've built over the past two years remains a high priority. I feel great about OSEIAs future for many reasons but a key one is that a main contributor to our momentum, the efforts of Craig Ernst and Meghan Craig, will continue delivering the excellent programs and events that OSEIA is becoming known for.

Over 100 attendees representing over 55 businesses display the vibrancy of this industry. This year OSEIA is telling a different story than they have told in the past. Solar is growing in Oregon, and growing quickly. The industry has never been as cohesive as it is today. “I was completely stunned,” noted Craig Ernst, OSEIA’s development director. “We have never seen this type of participation. We had over 11 folks running for 5 open board seats. I barely recognized half of the attendees. We are onto something!”

February 1, 2016 was a busy day for me. It was my first day working for OSEIA, I had a board meeting, it was the first day of the 2016 legislative session and for the first time in over 17 years, I was the new guy.

The State of the Association
Last Friday, February 26, OSEIA held its Annual Member Meeting in Portland. Eighty people attended and received updates on happenings with OSEIA and the broader landscape impacting the solar industry.
Some of the broader issues discussed will be covered in another article, here we will take a quick look at the state of OSEIA. Board President Paul Israel noted that with the hiring of a new executive director, OSEIA has, in the words of a business publication, added “policy muscle.” OSEIA’s new director, Jeff Bissonnette, started on February 1 and has already made sure OSEIA is deeply involved in the short session of the Oregon legislative session.

The Oregon Solar Industries Association recently recognized John Patterson for a lifetime of service to the Solar Industry with an Apogee Award at their annual member meeting on Feb 26th. OSEIA’s Apogee Award honors leaders in our solar community who have shown exceptional creativity, dedication, and success in working with industry stakeholders to expand the adoption of solar energy in Oregon.

Portland, OR - Oregon Solar Energy Industries Association (OSEIA) is proud to announce Jeff Bissonnette as their new Executive Director. This is an exciting time for the solar industry and Jeff Bissonnette comes to OSEIA after more than 17 years with Citizens' Utility Board of Oregon (CUB), the state's residential utility ratepayer advocate organization.
